Sara and I did a trip this week up to see the Hearst Castle in San Simeon, CA. As you can see from the picture above it sits on a hill five miles from the coastĀ – and yes the view is breathtaking! You wind up this long road on buses across the property, where animals are grazing, to the property.
The estate has a main house and several “guest” houses one of which we got to see first on the tour. Can you believe this thing is a guest house..what until you see the main house below
The front of the main house looks like a Spanish cathedral, with many influences from European architecture, truly amazing to see all of this on the top of a hill in the 1920’s.
The house was setup for recreation so there were not one but two pools, one indoor and one outdoor. First the outdoor Neptune pool…
Then the indoor pool more reminiscent of the indoor baths of the Roman empire with a flair…
We cannot even start to show you the view of this place with pictures.. so go and see it yourself it is definitely worth theĀ trip; and when you do don’t miss the coast on the way up there are some breathtaking views in the small beaches along the coast.
