Arizona Trip 2018

This weekend Sara and I drove down to Phoenix to visit her cousin George and my nephew Zack. We started the trip at cousin George’s house in Queen Creek.

George knew we had been driving so long so he had a trail run already picked out for us in the San Tran Trailhead just about 3 miles down the road.

It was a tough trail with some steep, rocky uphills and steep downhills.

The saguaro cactus in this park were amazing. Here is a huge one just by the trail next to Sara. The cactus doesn’t even start producing secondary limbs until it is 75 to 100 years old. So this is a really old guy.

The next morning we met up with

We saw this huge rattle snake on the way down to the parking lot. He was not moving at all but was amazing looking.

For our Sunday hike George took us to a hike around this beautiful lake. There were people boating on the water and lots of people hiking because the weather was warm with low winds.

It was a great day to hike and look at this beautiful view at the end of the trail and the mountains in the background.
