George Burns said it right when he quipped “Happiness is having a large, loving, caring, close-knit family in another city.” Ha! well on Saturday we went for a drive and connected with part of that family.
The first stop was to visit Charlene and Sara’s cousin Therese and her husband Mike in Temecula. It was an beautiful day in the 80’s; and Therese and Mike had wine and cheese ready for us when we arrived :).
Mike and Charlene met in the Navy at Great Lakes and Mike later transferred to Camp Pendelton in California. He retired from the military, started his civilian career and moved to Temecula. Mike and Therese have a beautiful home with a patio and pool in back.
The next stop was to meet Bob’s niece Shana in Carlsbad. We met at a wood fire pizza restaurant and we were all really hungry from driving. We admired the young girls and boys all dressed up for Prom and watched part of the Laker’s game. Shana lives in San Diego a block from the beach with a lemon and avacado tree in her back yard. Doesn’t that make you want to live here??
We are really sad to see Charlene and Bob leave they are great travel partners and so fun to go out and play with in the sun. My hunch is that they will be back……
