This years Challenged Athlete Foundation Challenge (CAF) started out looking like it was going to be a rainy one. We got up at 5:15 AM because we were meeting our friend Mickie by the freeway to ride down together.
As we drove south on the 5 freeway it began to rain more and more so we were happy to see that rain was not falling in La Jolla where the swim starts in the Cove. As we walked down the hill the sounds of Bob Babbit announcing and the race started to hit us and this was the scene down in the cove with smooth, clear, ocean water our in front of the swimmers….
Michielle Jones was the first out of the swim…which was awesome, and not to far behind as you will see was Scott Tinley and Rudy T…

Did you check out the size of the bike Bill Walton was riding, I think his head tube is longer than my seat tube… 😉 Ha!
Also way up in front on the swim was stud Jordan Rapp who was also part of a relay today…
Sara Rinertsen was waiting in the transition area for “The Bachelor” to finish his swim so she could start the bike, here is their relay team…
Also joining the party today was Julie Moss who we just saw last weekend race in the Hawaii Ironman, she looked great….
Seeing Rudy and his buddies at this race hang out near the transition was really cool… Great Job today Guys….
Our buddy “Swim Jim” was an aide to a swimmer today in the race as he does nearly every year, and we were glad to catch up with him in such a fun event.
