Costa Rica – La Fortuna & Tabacon Hot Springs

posted in: Uncategorized | 0

It was time to leave the beach for the mountains again and I think we were ready. Next stop is the area around Arenal (Are e nall) West of the airport. We packed up our stuff and left the ocean and our resort behind and headed for La Fortuna..

We had heard about the Waterfall at La Fortuna and we wanted to check it out. First you park and check-in.

Next you enter the park and start your hike down to the falls. Everything was lush and wet and green.

The path was steep with block steps and a chain railing in places. The ground was slick but went quick on the way down…

The waterfall was really beautiful and powerful and the water extremely cold; since we had just come from the warm pacific ocean we did not get in….

After climbing out and back to our car we were off to find out home for the rest of the day the Tabacon Hot Springs Resort. This resort is very near the Arenal volcano and has a spa and hot springs that are heated by the volcano lava under the ground.

We signed up for lunch and dinner and afternoon and evening at the hot springs. We had been eating like the locals for a week and had traveled all morning so we good appetites…

Lets just say that Sara was EXCITED….

After eating our fill we walked around the grounds to check out what they had to offer while our food settled. They had a main pool area that was not hot and they the waterfalls and pools went up progressively closer to the volcano and progressively got hotter and more secluded.

The resort was extremely well manicured with pools and vegetation that made you feel relaxed and right in the heart of the jungle…I know that is ironic.

There was a main waterfall when you first walked into the hot springs area that was really fun because you can sit in and behind it – check it out….

There was more and more secluded area’s to sit and relax in the water…Sara really took to this area….
