Hiking in Rancho Palos Verdes

It was a beautiful morning for a drive north to Rancho Palos Verdes where Sara and I have never hiked before. We got tipped off to a great resort (Terranea) to park near and walk on the Long Point Terranea Trail to the beach and up the coast.  You can probably see that cave to the left on the picture, we hiked down there and into the cave…

The mouth of the cave looking out to the ocean you can see in the video…MORE IMPORTANTLY TURN UP YOUR SOUND and listen to the sound the rocks make as the waves rush out over them

It is the most amazing sound I have heard..the sound drew me too it.

A short walk down the trail going North the path flowed right to the rocks on the ocean and some tide pools. we couldn’t help ourselves the two things we love ocean and bouldering all in one. We walked on the rocks as the waves crashed against them shooting splash up in the air and I saw some crabs like this one below sunning themselves on the side of the rocks.

About a mile ahead to start catching a glimpse of the Point Vicente Lighthouse in the distance. It was late morning but the morning fog hadn’t burned off yet and we could see the light clearly shining off the coast. A short distance off the coast just beyond the kelp beds a dozen or so fishing boats were working the water. We couldn’t walk on the Lighthouse grounds today but I was able to get this picture through the fence.

We will definitely be back here to hike again and maybe next time we will bring our run shoes and really cover some ground.
