Hollywood Sign Hike

This morning bright and early we drove to LA with some good friends to Hike to the Hollywood sign for Sara’s Birthday. We were at the trail head just after 7 am and got rock star parking in the lot just near the trail head.

LA was still waking up as we ascended on the wide trail. We could see the entire LA including Griffith Observatory off in the distance below.

We first hiked to the top to see the Hollywood sign from behind. There is a large chain link fence on the trail just above the sign. Larry and I climbed just ahead of the group and they took this patriotic picture of us in the beautiful morning sky.

This shot below is just behind the sign with the Hollywood reservoir to the right and downtown LA and Griffith Observatory to the left. Such a great morning.

Next we backtracked and were on a trail just below the sign. The sign looks really good after the recent restoration. Just above the sign you can see the flag from the picture above.

The whole group (minus 2 pre teens) below the Hollywood sign. Really green this year because of all the rain this Spring.

The opposite direction from the parking lot is another trailhead/gate leading to the Bat Cave. Very short hike and supposedly this was the Bat Cave used for the 70’s Television show Bat Man. It is pretty cool!
