Idaho Adventure Land – River Fishing

posted in: Travel, Uncategorized | 0

Rafting and fishing go together like a foot and a sandal. Our first day of rafting was more for the bigger rapids, this rafting day was for enjoying the river and fishing.

We “put in” at a calmer section of the Salmon river and brought along our cooler and fishing poles – Sara was the only one opting out of fishing.

Sara caught up on some of her reading and is sporting this awesome look at one of our stops along the way

There were these awesome sandy beaches along most of the river and they were great to have lunch on or just to get out and swim.

The scenery was amazing.. and I don’t just mean Sara ;), you can see in the distance a BLM raft just hitting another stretch of rapids off into the canyon.

Dale by far caught the most fish of the day with tons of Bass and a couple of trout…

I was able to catch the largest Bass of this trip with this baby, these river Bass are really awesome fighters he felt twice this size…

Miriam my sister caught the largest fish of the day, however this fish is considered a “parasite” in the river.

Along the way we stopped off at an area with some Indian rock paintings. We parked the rafts and climbed a short trail to this rock with these cool paintings right on the rock…

Cliff jump into the water

At the end of the rafting trip we stopped at a boat ramp that had a beach and a cliff that some local teenagers we jumping off into the water. We watched from the raft as we went by and after seeing how deep the water was in this stretch I decided to give it a try

Sara and I climbed the rocks as the group watched from off in the distance on some rocks by the shore..

After  a couple of minutes to get up my nerve and some helpful hints from the teenagers I was ready to
jump, check it out…..
