Ironman Wisconsin Race Update

Good Morning Everyone,

The race is over and it was an epic day, here are some of the highlights. Sara placed 4th in her age group with a time just under 12 hours, Kari made it to mile 16 on the run pacing just behind Sara and then started yaking on the astoturf of Camp Randall Stadium and then a ride to the medical tent to get an IV. Our friend Marni also did the race and finished with an impressive 14:40 on her third time competing in the race. Our friend, Lauren Jenson placed second in the pro field making us all look bad with a 10:19 time.

The race was incredible. To see the capitol from the swim, bike and run was amazing. I am sure that Paul Gilles was with us in spirit. Highlights include riding through Verona with tons of spectators cheering for us, seeing old friends from when we used to live here, and best of all, seeing our family and frinds who came to watch us. George, Phil and Annette and my cousin, Cheryl and Bob, Charlene and family were there to cheer us on for the bike to run and at the finish. Charlene even crossed the finish line with me. I wasn’t thinking clear enough to bring Elise, too, but that would have been even better. True to Wisconsing tradion, they had brats for us after the race!

Wish you could have been there. Miss you all!
Kari and Sara
