We were blessed to host Charlene, Donovan and Elise over the July 4th weekend
Donovan was competing in Nationals for Irish Dance in Anaheim…here he is in his Irish Dance attire with his friend Henry and excited mom Charlene…
Donovan danced twice in the competition. His friend Henry from the same dance school was called back to dance a third time as well. The dancing caliber was super high at Nationals we are very proud of Donovan for getting back here after injuries last year.
Next it was time to head to the Desert – specifically the 29 Palms marine base were we were able to spend time with Bob and Charlene’s longtime friends Jay and Shelly. They welcomed us into their home and the we started playing…
The pool was the first place to be since the temp was pushing 110 during the day. It was also a bonus that Jay’s son was a lifeguard at the pool so we could hang out with him while he protected the pool..
When the sun set it was time to try out Jay’s offroad motorcycle just off the base in a dry riverbed. Jay showed us how it was done first and then it was time for Donovan to give it a try… he did really good for his first time on a bike and man did he look the part in this awesome protective gear….
Next I got a chance to try out the bike – really fun and smooth ride..too some time to get accustomed to the front wheel sliding in the sand, but the bike had plenty of power for me…
After a great dinner and a good night sleep we decided to head over to Joshua Tree (J-Tree) for a morning hike before the day heated up. While driving over there we continued to gain elevation and it got cooler – which was a blessing….
We stopped at the Ryan Mountain trailhead and got out to do the hike.
The hike was hilly and hot and also beautiful. From the top we could see the whole surrounding area.
After so much time in the hot desert we drove back home to spent their last day playing at the beach..
We started out in Dana Point Harbor overlooking the marina area, Sara and Elise we loving the sun and the ocean breeze…
While walking at the beach Sara and I saw some good friends hanging out with some paddle boards so Donovan and I went out to play in the harbor.
It was extremely windy so we were working hard. Donovan stood up like a champ and was paddling hard to get back to the beach..
It was a really fun visit with Desert and Beach, we home we have more visitors to play with in the near future….
