Tahiti Trip – Papeete (Tahiti)

Event Schedule

We docked in Papeete and could go off the ship onto dry land again from the gangway. We got up early to go to the open market in town a short walk from the ship. The ship looked great in the morning light and it was way cooler at this time of the morning.

The Open market was really a locals place to get the things that they needed, we were definitely the minority in this crowd. Again, our freinds, the colorful fish were laid out on ice for all to view and buy for the day. Gives new meaning to Red Fish, Blue Fish.

The vendors were also selling jewelry and pork and lots of fresh vegetables and fruit and some of those beautiful flowers:

Beautiful Ginger (Nancy is Jealous!)
Yummy Pork Ribs

The Radisson Hotel was our home-away-from-home after they “kicked us”off the baot to get ready for the next group. As with most things on this trip, we were not disappointed with this hotel. It is a top notch hotel with beautiful rooms, a huge pool and a black sand beach with more great snorkeling. The ocean floor seamed to move as the schools of fish swam from one area to another. It rained on and off, but the rain felt good after all the sun. We took a short break to watch the last quarter of the Super Bowl in our hotel room. It was broadcast in French, of course.
