Visiting in Minnesota

Our Wisconsin trip this year, started by us driving to Minnesota. Our good friends Rob and Jane invited us to join them at their cabin. When we arrived we were blown away by their “cabin”.

In the front of the house we looked out over the clear, flat water and the pier and it looked so inviting.

Don’t these chairs look inviting just looking out over the lake into the bright sun, and the boat sure looks like fun.

Our first boat ride on the lake. Turns out when you go outside at the cottage you get a great hat to wear. we picked out these beauties to keep the sun off our faces.

Rob loves the flamingos, so this floatie was keeping and eye on me while out on the dock.

This lake was made for standup paddle boarding. Flat, clear warm water.

This looks like a wave runner but actually it is a rocket ship. Man this thing has power and it was so fun cruising around the lake with Sara.

On a raining morning we went to a local store that sold virtually everything. I was trying to find something it didn’t have and was not coming up with anything. Rob and Sara checking out some prime finds….

Time for a good meal and a few drinks outside after a fun day out on the water. A prime spot to watch another great sunset.

Sunsets on the lake, one of the greatest joys of visiting the Midwest.

Wisconsin visits

After our great time in Minnesota we exited the freeway not far over the boarder into Wisconsin to visit one of Sara’s cousins. Lets say she lives off the beaten path…

Here is her amazing house on the banks of their own pond in the woods.

It was a beautiful day and we had such gracious hosts for lunch.

We were excited to spend the the 4th at my dads cottage. Time for a cookout and all the extras to eat.

We gathered on the lake side lawn for a great view of the fireworks.

The fireworks over the water were great. We were lucky to get a front row seat on the water.

There is nothing like hanging with the Lyons for a great meal in the evening. It was awesome to see everyone and was a great night to hang outside and talk.

No trip to Milwaukee is complete without a visit to Summerfest, we opted for kids day. Boy was this a hot day on the lakefront. It must have been 90 in the shade and there wasn’t much shade. We walked around filling in our scavenger hunt cards…

All the women/girls took a ride in the air on the aerial tram.

On of the highlights was getting to see our nephew Greg compete in his first Triathlon.

He is a natural runner, just look at his great form out there…

Both Greg and his buddy had a great race and it was fun to be part of it, even if we weren’t racing.

We had a great suprise and ran into our great friend Lauren Jensen who was racing. She is such a stud, and it was fun warming down with her and catching up.
