2007 Annual Boat Parade – Christmas Run

posted in: Christmas Run | 1

This years annual Balboa Island Boat Parade Christmas run went off with awesome success, with the biggest group yet. The event started out at the Fashion Island Cheesecake Factory with a group of 10 runners and we ran down to PCH to Jambouree where we met more runners to join us for the trip down the balboa island.

The group then was in the thick of the christmas festivities on the island and we first ran around little Balboa and then big balboa island. People having parties out on their padio’s called out to the group calling us Elves, Chrismas Carolers (funny hard to hold a tune when you are running), Jogging Evles, Reindeer etc. HA what fun.

We made our first stop at a friends house Jenn and her boyfriend Mike who live on the island. We thank them so much for letting us crash their party and for giving us Gatorade, water and snacks. We continued our run after a visit and then we saw the award winning houses in the Parade of Lights contest – simply amazing. Heading back to Fashion Island we stopped on the bridge to check out the boats in the boat parade. One huge boat had it completely decorated with a full christmas scene, and another Tommy Bahama boat had a Marlin made of blue lights on the side where the tail would wag as the lights flickered (cool!). A fun time was had by all and we thank everyone for coming. Now for the costume contest and there has to be at least two this year:

1. Overall Costume Winner – Sterling
2. Best Socks Award – Christina (awesome striped stocks)
