Cabo San Lucas 2015

posted in: Travel | 0

Sara and I planned a getaway with her sisters in Cabo San Lucas for the Easter Holiday week.

We started the adventure by trying out a new service called Fightcar. You sign up they allow you to park your car in their lot near the airport, give you a ride to the gate and will rent your car out while you are gone if they can. The service was great and we got a nice ride in a suburban to the gate.

We are staying at the Villa de Palamar on the beach in Cabo San Lucas. We met Sara sisters Charlena and Anne. and their kids and are sharing a two bedroom with an awesome balcony with a hot tub and a great view of the resort pool and action area for people watching.

This is a view of the courtyard with the nice pools and a great whale slide – really fast

The bar and pizza kitchen was right below us and right in front of the large Jacuzzi’s.

Here is a walk through view of the condo we stayed in… sorry about the mess, lots of us bedding down at night…

There were lots of activities to do on the beach, so first Sara and walked down the beach and rented a Kayak. The ocean was a little rough on this day but the water was beautiful and warm so we didn’t care.

The water and air were warm so we had an ocean swim almost every day. It has been since October since we were in the ocean swimming so this was a treat..

The beach sand was at a really steep angle going down into the water which proved all kinds of fun when the big waves came in. Here you can see Bob, and Rachel, but the real daredevil was Greg who let himself get pushed up the beach and sucked back down into the waves for hours…

Rachel, away liking attention was having a blast playing in the waves with her brothers…

After a day of running and swimming and playing in the waves and pools we made our way down to the harbor Saturday AM to the Tres Amigos Dive shop. After trying on our wetsuits and BC we walked with our Dive Master Luis (on the right) down to the pier about a block away, Charlene decided to lend a hand..

We walked out onto the pier and met up with our captain and boat…

Here is Sara and Charlene going aboard the dive boat, you can also see our Dive master with the red shorts, great guide….

Here is our trusty captain that did some great maneuvering to get us into a tight dive spot and was quick to get us water to keep hydrated after our dives…

All of our dive gear lined up and ready for our first dive.. you can see the rocks of Del Arco in the background…

Here is the dive group after our first dive, everyone did great under the water….

Here we are resting up after our first dive… after each dive you need to stay up to allow nitrogen to leach out of your body, this is all depending on the depth of your dive… We waited for about an hour between dives. We dove twice to a maximum depth of about 65 to 70 feet.  The water visibility was about 30 feet unless something rustled up the sand.

Here is a video of the highlights of our dives. There was really beautiful fish and we also saw two white tip reef sharks, some lobsters, some large moray eels and a rock fish I almost missed..check it out..

After our two dives the captain took us to Del Arco “The Arch” at lands end. The arch has several beautiful rock formations.

Snorkel Trip

On Monday we got up early and did a workout and then got our stuff ready for a Snorkeling Trip. The water we had been playing in over the weekend was awesome so we couldn’t wait to get going.

We got a taxi (van) from the hotel to the harbor…

The Harbor was nice in the morning…..

At the harbor we found our pier and the boat and the crew came out to greet us with something fruity to drink for everyone. It was welcome since it was already hot…

We boarded the boat and then it was time for a short tour around the area and then a trip south to snorkeling beach..

This is a view of “Lovers Beach’ from the boat. The joke is that you can view lovers beach here, on the Pacific side where it is wider and rougher is “Divorce Beach” and right in between is “Lawyers Beach” – Ha!

Like father like some..both Greg and Bob wanted a nap on the way to the snorkel beach…

Here is our boat the Cabo Escape…kind of a cross between a snorkel boat and a tame party boat… the spot they took us to was very busy so we didn’t know what to expect for fish..

The snorkel guide in the water with us had food with him to attract the fish and they certainly came running as you can see…

LotsOfFish

After a little while I ventured away from the groups in search of fish hanging out in the area and took there pictures of fish….

After all that time in the water checking out fish it was time to head back and it was open food and bar on the way back…

For days Sara and I walked by this hanger and runway near the hotel with a sign that read Cabo Flight. Then one time we saw a couple getting out of a taxi and moving toward the hanger. We looked it up and this guy has a service where gives people flights over the Lands End in a glider with a motor.

DSCN5570

I wanted to do it but put it off because the pilot was hard to contact and I thought the want to do it would go away. It didn’t so I contacted the pilot on social media and went over to the hangar.

We worked out the details and then I climbed aboard..

Here is my flight – the video is long but the views are spectacular…

It was a great trip and Ernesto is a great pilot who gave me a super fun ride…

It was a great trip to spend time with family and enjoy the adventure that Cabo has to offer….we certainly will be back
