Flat Stanley – Trip to Chicago

posted in: Uncategorized | 0

Flat Stanley asked to go on my business trip to Chicago to experience what it is like to work for a marketing company and how could I turn him down. Luckily there was a free seat between me and another guy in the exit row. The flight attendant was alittle concerned about flat helping passengers exit the plane in an emergency but he said he would give a helping hand.

From the airport it was a train ride from Ohare on the blue line to downtown Chicago to stay at the Courtyard Mariott by the river. Mike my boss rode with flat on the train. Flats good mood and smiling face kept Mike’s spirits up because he was feeling under the weather on the trip.

Thursday morning we were up early for the train ride to Libertyville to Motorola headquarters for a business meeting.  Stanley had a great meeting and took some great notes; which was a huge help because it allowed me to focus on the meeting.

After a day long meeting it was dinner at a  Chicago pizza place call Bills Pizza and Pub.  This place had more stuffed animals than Aunt Miriam’s house (Ha). We had so much pizza that Stanley almost became un-flat, his stomach moved out for a moment at the end of the meal and then was flat again.

Friday Mike, Stanley and I had some time to check out sites in downtown Chicago. The Sears Tower (now the Willis Tower) observation deck as our first stop. The building is 1,450 feet tall and is the tallest building the United States. We paid for our tickets and then took the elevator to the top. The observation deck wrapped around the building with one side with glass boxes protruding from the side of the building where you can walk out on a ledge.  The ledge was freaky with glass all around and the city street over 100 stories below. Flat was fearless laying down on the floor with his back to the street – check him out below:

After the Sears Tower it was off to the Chicago Auto Show which was in town and just a cab ride away at the McCormick center by the lake. All the new models were there. Our man Phat Stanley, all he wanted to do is look at the tricked out Scions and I couldn’t get him away from the new Lexus LFA. This car is a rocketship of a car that can go from 0-60 in 3.6 seconds, a top speed of 202 miles per hour, and a ticket price of $350,000 – he sure knows how to pick them.

What an awesome trip – I can’t wait to see what is up next.
