San Diego Triathlon Challenge – Team Titanium

This year at the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) Half Ironman Race we had a team to be reckoned with in La Jolla. Sara, Cate and I created team Titanium to raise money for CAF who purchases training and racing gear for athletes who are missing limbs or are paralized in some way. This is the most inspirational race we do all year and we look forward to it. This year we got together with friends the night before for a Potluck and barbeque; and its something we plan on doing again in the future – so fun walking a couple of blocks to the race in the morning.

The day started out really foggy so the organizers shortened the swim course but thirty minutes later the sun came out and the fog rolled out to reveal a awesome day.
Cate did so great on the swim I wasn’t even ready to go out on the bike so I rushed ot get going. There were so many great people out on the ride and the volunteers were great. This is not a competitive race for us (The challenged athletes are racing) so Sara took off for the run about 30 mintues after I left so she was already back and hanging out (she ran fast) when I hit the transition area. If you want to check out the Race go to Challenged Athletes Foundation and check it out.
