Trip to Wisconsin 2010

Road trip with the brothers & Dad started out the trip. Brother Andy lives up north near Lacrosse, so me and the brothers drove up to see his new house in the boonies. It is a great place and he has done a great job making improvements.  The backyard is huge and has about 200 acres of woods and farmland behind it  – should be great for hunting season.

The one thing the house needs before the winter is a new roof, so we spent some of our time together riding around looking at metal roofs in the area – most are installed by local Amish farmers. We stopped at the farm of a man that was to do the work for Andy to give him the measurements for the job.

Everyone say it with me “Steve’s Labor Day Party” I can’t hear you! “Steve’s Labor Day Party”and you know what that means – sweet corn on the grill and more relatives than you can say “you betcha” to; and this year was no exception!

Well what better is there to do once you have had your fill of great Midwestern eats, but to…. yup you guessed it

What do you do when its raining? Well doesn’t everyone blow up balloons and hold faux strong man contests. Well that is what happened this morning while we were eating breakfast – Chris, Dono and Greg showed us their “fake” muscles – Dono won because he added ab muscles.

It was a treat going for a ride on the North side of Milwaukee with our great friend Marni. She set us up with her and Ben’s “spare” bikes and they were almost better then our regular bikes.  The wind was howling  and blew us around on the road but we didn’t care because we are out riding.

We don’t miss a chance to get up to Madison, and this week was no exception. We had four things on our agenda and got to all of them in the day:

Visit the new Wisconsin Lutheran Chapel near State Street. They are one of our favorite charities because they impact the lives of students so directly on campus; I know it first hand having frequented the chapel while going to school.

Visit with Sara’s friend Eileen

Visit with our friend Marni that was competing in Ironman Moo and Run on Lake Monona.
