What my mom taught me

posted in: Uncategorized | 2

My mom passed away last week and Sara and traveled to the Midwest for her funeral – this is what I learned from my mom…

God sent Jesus to earth to not only save us from our sins but to teach us how to love each other, like he loved us –  unconditionally.

From birth I felt that unconditionally love from my mother no matter the circumstance. From my Moms friendsI met at her funeral they felt that way too. You know my mom was a teacher for much of her life and she is still teaching lessons to me today!

Here is a verse that catches this feeling:

Now that I am gone,

Remember me with smiles and laughter.

And if you need to cry,

Cry with your brothers and sisters

Who walk in grief beside you.

Put your arms around anyone

And give them what you need to give to me.

There are so many who need so much.

I want to leave you something –

Something much better than words or sounds.

Look for me in the people I’ve known

Or help in some special way.

Let me live in your heart as well as in your mind.

You can love me the most by letting

Your love reach out to our loved ones.

By embracing them and living in their love.

Love does not die, people do.

So, when all that is left of me is love,

Give me away as best as you can.

Kari, I am so sorry to read of your mom’s passing. She sounds like she was a wonderful woman.
