We all stand up for Paddle!

Can you say FUN! Sara and I had the best time playing with our friend Junior on his Paddle Boards in back bay – here is how it goes.

This sport combines some stuff we love like ocean and sun and also some stuff we are new to like a big buoyant surfboard and a long carbon fiber paddle. The object of the game is to walk out on the board, standing with your feet together (kinda unnatural at first) and start paddling off into the sunset – Ha.

Junior set us both up with a paddle boards – I was priviledged to ride the one in front that was formerly Laird Hamiltons (you can see his name on it up in front) and sara rode that white one.

After going for a cruise around the bay with Junior our incredible guide we decided to go for it riding the big board tandem.  Listen to me this takes serious teamwork and we thought we had it – everything was going so well in the beginning we got on the board together and moved off into the bay.

Good Start! – Look at that great teamwork

Losing It! – Hey wait why are you leaning and paddling on that side of the board – Woah Woah!

Down into the Bay – Yea well while I was falling Sara is already under the water, its a good thing the water was warm because we didn’t know we were going in. We were both laughing so hard and just trying to get back up on the board.

Afterwards we went to the best cheap Mexican food spot in Newport and had a burrito about the size of an infant child – and it was awesome and fed both Sara and I with leftover for lunch the next day.

We also got to see Juniors new place and were honored to test out his cool Ironman coasters on our drinks – really what better coasters could you have/

Great post about cruising flat water on a Laird Board. Laird Hamilton got the sport of SUP renewed and his boards are still great. We sell both his soft top and glossy boards on our site http://www.StandUpPaddleFlatwater.com
You two must have been on a Laird 12’1″ to fit both of you. Looks like fun. Be sure to check out our blog for our Bend, Oregon SUP stories about flat water stand up paddling.http://standuppaddle.blogspot.com/
    Aloha, Cristina
